You might imagine that a band with a reputation for being lairy, laddish and boozy like Kasabian might warm up for the biggest gig of their career by doing the cliched things that cliched rock stars are wont to do.
Surprisingly, the Leicester band prepared for their Glastonbury headline set in 2014 in quite a different manner.
Guitarist Serge Pizzorno has revealed that he spent the time before their Pyramid Stage set in the band's tour bus with friend and comedian Noel Fielding, listening to an audiobook.
To add insult to injury, the book in question was not Keith Richards' autobiography, something by Hunter S. Thompson or some rock bible - it was Jerome K. Jerome's 1889 book 'Three Men in a Boat'.
“Before we went on, me and Noel were listening to ‘Three Men In A Boat’ on an audiobook,” he told DIY magazine. “Imagine that? We were lying down in the bunks, fucking crying with laughter.
“I had my phone in the middle and we were lying next to each other, going ‘this is fucking great’. Just mellowing out. You wanna be still. Like Elvis with black leather over the windows so it’s as dark as possible. Then half hour before the gig, it’s like ‘BAM’. Right. Fucking pupils like that. Eyes open. Ready.”
