Justin Bieber's decision to cancel the remaining dates on his 'Purpose' world tour has generated a lot of chatter over the past week.
Some of his fellow musicians - such as Louis Tomlinson, who performed on The X Factor just days after his mother's death - believe that he should have fulfilled his commitments, while others like John Mayer applauded him for stepping back if he felt he needed to.
Although Bieber released a statement apologising at the time, he has addressed the situation in a lengthy open letter to fans posted on Instagram.
In it, he mentions being grateful for his fans' support but says that he wants to be 'sustainable'. "Me taking this time right now is me saying I want to be SUSTAINABLE," he wrote. "I want my career to be sustainable, but I also want my mind, heart and soul to be sustainable. So that I can be the man I want to be, the husband I eventually want to be and the father I want to be."
