LCD Soundsystem head honcho James Murphy will further diversify his career when he makes his Broadway music debut by writing songs for an upcoming Daniel Craig play.
Murphy, who will play a DJ set on Friday at Body & Soul, will provide tuneage for Betrayal, a reworking of the classic Harold Pinter play. Also starring in the show which is set to open in October will be Rafe Spall and Rachel Weisz. The play is inspired by Pinter's affair with broadcaster Joan Bakewell and centres around an adulterous couple and the fallout which occurs when their affair disintegrates.
Since disbanding LCD Soundsystem in 2011, Murphy has spent his time travelling the globe as a DJ and some high profile music production jobs, such as the upcoming album from Arcade Fire.
Speaking to NME, Murphy elaborated on his upcoming plans, saying: "I'm scoring some stff: a couple of films, a play. It's tough to say. There's a lot that I'm trying to do. And there's this NYC Subway project that I'm working on, music for the subways. I'm ready to do it, I just need to find a way it. It's not that easy."
James Murphy will play the Midnight Circus stage at Body & Soul on Friday at 10pm.
