James Rosemond, known by his alias 'Jimmy Henchman', has implicated himself in the shooting of rapper Tupac Shakur. Shakur was shot at Quad Recording Studios in New York. Tupac placed the blame on Rosemond in his song 'Against All Odds'.
Rosemond is currently on trial on separate drug trafficking charges and has admitted to ambush the rapper, according to reports in US magazine The Village Voice. The publication reports that Rosemond is attempting to enter into a bargain plea on his current case by divulging information on the Shakur shooting in the hopes that it could lead to a lighter sentence.
In June of 2011, low-key hoodlum Dexter Isaac stated that he was paid by Rosemond to commit the crime, saying: "In 1994, James Rosemond hired me to rob 2Pac at the Quad Studio. He gave me $2,500, plus all the jewelry I took, except for one ring, which he wanted for himself. It was the biggest of the two diamond rings that we took. He said he wanted to put the stone in a new setting for his girlfriend at the time, Cynthia Reed. I still have as proof the chain that we took that night in the robbery."
Due to the statute of limitations expiring in relation to the case, Rosemond (nor anyone else) will never be tried for the crime which was classified as a robbery, instead of attempted murder.
Tupac Shakur was shot and killed in an attack in Las Vegas in September 1996.
"Jimmy Henchman. . .
[You] set me up, wet me up... stuck me up.
But you never shut me up."
