They describe themselves as 'world music-infused alt-rock that lies somewhere in-between Queens of the Stone Age and The Pogues'; one festival promoter called them 'Luke Kelly meets Rage Against the Machine'. BogBodies certainly plough an unusual furrow.
The Tipperary-based heavy-folk band are back with their second single, having released debut 'Blowing Out' last year.
Its follow-up 'This Reality' is released tomorrow, August 1st. The video features fire dancers and was shot entirely in an underground cave system. We hope none of them are claustrophobic.
It certainly makes for an atmospheric promo.
As singer and guitarist Dan Maher explained: "I came up with the concept for the video based on the ancient myth of Odysseus's journey to the underworld. It was very bare-boned in its inception, we simply brought the right people together in the cave, we had no artificial lighting, only natural fire, no script or storyboard only improvised performance, one handheld camera and a heap of good luck! We shot it in a single evening on a shoestring budget. The video is very much a collaborative effort between musicians, videographers and fire performers!"
