Ireland's Eurovision 2021 entry has debuted this morning, with last year's entrant returning once again.
Given the year we've had, it's comforting to know that at least one major event will be returning later this year: the cheese-fest that is Eurovision. And today, Ireland's Eurovision 2021 hopeful has released the song that she will be hoping will be enough to get her through to the live final in Rotterdam on May 22.
With last year's artists invited back for this year's event, Lesley Roy and 'Maps' will represent us this time around. Similar in tone to her 2020 entry, 'Story Of My Life', 'Maps' is another upbeat pop anthem, which she wrote and produced. The first play of the track debuted this morning on RTÉ 2FM.
Later this evening, Lesley will perform the song live on 'The Late Late Show' for the first time, on an evening that will see some previous Irish Eurovision winners joining Ryan Tubridy.
Alongside Lesley, tonight Ryan will be joined in studio by Linda Martin, Niamh Kavanagh, Charlie McGettigan, and Paul Harrington. It's believed that some special musical performances will be in store for us.
Here's the music video for Lesley Roy's 'Maps', which was filmed on location in the Wicklow mountains. The song will be available via Spotify and Apple Music from today.
Ireland is scheduled to perform in the first Eurovision semi-final on Tuesday, May 18, hoping to eventually make it all the way to the final on Saturday, May 22.
