It always seemed sort of wrong that Iggy Pop was advertising car insurance. Swiftcover probably got the veteran rocker in on the act to try and make insurance look cool, but we all know insurance will never be cool.
Now advertising authorities have banned the ad in question after deeming it misleading. The Advertising Standards Authority received twelve complaints about the clip after it came to light that Swiftcover do not provide insurance for entertainers.
A report published on ASA.org.uk ruled that the advert was deceptive as Iggy Pop states "I got it Swiftcovered. I got insurance on my insurance!" when he does not have an insurance policy with the company at all.
"Because the policy was promoted by a well-known musician, which might lead some viewers to believe the policy covered those who worked in entertainment, when it did not, and because Iggy Pop did not have a policy with Swiftcover, we concluded the ad was misleading." Too right
