DJ's rarely make good albums - most of their efforts are distinctly half-hearted affairs, collections of dance-floor fillers that sound fairly pointless when played at home. In fairness to producer Howie B, however, he's tried to do something a little more substantial with his latest offering. Instead of being a slave to fashion, Another Late Night reaches into history to pick out some half-forgotten gems from the likes of Barry White and Black Star, ranging from soothing soul music to underground hip hop with a few smooth samples in the middle. As an album to wind down to after a hard night's clubbing, this one does the job nicely.
