The MTV Europe Music Awards took place last night at London's Wembley Arena, and there was something of a shock as Taylor Swift ended up with no gongs despite leading the pack with six nominations.
Instead, the big winners were teen idol Shawn Mendes, who picked up four awards, while U2 picked up the 'Global Icon' for their troubles, with a free gig at Trafalgar Square to celebrate. Overall, the winners were a rather predictable, safe bunch with Coldplay winning Best Rock and David Guetta winning Best Electronic like the last decade in music never happened.
