Performances on the night included ones from Halsey, Little Mix and Nicki Minaj, and Panic At the Disco, along with a powerful speech and performance from Janet Jackson, who slayed her entrance. She must have learned a vauable cape lesson from Madonna:

Jackson took home the 'Global Icon' award:

Camila Cabello, the ex-Fifth Harmony singer, won the awards for 'Best Video' and 'Best Song' for her monster track 'Havana', and 'Best U.S. Act'. Accepting her biggest win of 'Best Artist', Cabello showed her love for her fans:

Dua Lipa won 'Best Pop Artist', while rapper Cardi B won the award for 'Best New Artist'. Nicki Minaj took home the awards for 'Best Look', and 'Best Hip-Hop Artist'.

The night wasn't overrun by awards just for it's female stars however, as Shawn Mendes, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Panic At The Disco, and Marshmello were the recipients of 'Best Live Artist', 'Best Rock Artist', 'Best Alternative Artist', and 'Best Electronic Artist' respectively.

The final two awards of the night went to K-Pop superstars BTS for 'Best Fans', and Alessia Cara for her performance at Singapore 2018 earning her 'Best World Stage'.
