'Lady Bird' is already picking up some early Oscar buzz, but now its writer and director Greta Gerwig has revealed that she went to extra-special lengths to get the soundtrack that she wanted.
The comedy-drama - which stars Saoirse Ronan and which has been critically acclaimed since its release in the States earlier this month - includes songs like Justin Timberlake's 'Cry Me a River' and Alanis Morrisette's 'Hand in My Pocket', and Gerwig told Seth Myers that she personally wrote to each act to ask permission.
In Morissette's letter, she revealed that 'Jagged Little Pill' was the first tape that she ever bought, and that her music "helped to define my whole adolescence". She also wrote to Dave Matthews, and opened her letter to Justin Timberlake by saying "Dear Mr. Timberlake, I mean, what can I say? You're Justin Timberlake."
