It's already been turned into a Broadway musical - and now Green Day's 'American Idiot' album is set to become a movie.
Plans to turn Billie Joe Armstrong and co.'s 2003 record into a film have been touted around for a few years, with Tom Hanks even expressing interest in producing at one point - but now it seems like things are well underway with the project.
Armstrong told NME that he was set to take on the role of St. Jimmy, which he played in the Broadway version of the show, in the film and that HBO were involved.
"We've got a green light from HBO, and the script is currently going through a couple of rewrites here and there, so I'm not sure when exactly we're going to start shooting," he said. "But it's definitely all systems go at the moment."
Green Day released their latest album 'Revolution Radio' on Friday.
