It's official: Ireland is mad about Garth Brooks. The country music legend's three dates this summer in Croke Park went on sale this morning and within an hour and a half almost a quarter of a million tickets were shifted.
This is the very first time that a music act has sold out THREE nights in Croke Park in just one day - let alone 90 minutes. Over 10,000 people were queuing since the wee hours outside Ticketmaster outlets nationwide to secure tickets to the shows taking place on the 25th, 26th and 27th of July and we presume they'll be headed homeward now to work on their line-dancing routines.
Peter Aiken, head honcho of Aiken Promotions, noted that this is the fastest-selling concert he's ever been involved in in over 52 years of business.
