Yesterday, Cork's Lord Mayor Des Cahill seemed convinced that a Garth Brooks concert at Páirc Uí Chaoimh next summer was pretty much a done deal.
However, it looks like the councillor may have gotten a little ahead of himself as Brooks' own manager said that the country megastar has no plans to play in Ireland in the near future.
Bob Doyle told The Irish Sun: "We have no plans to tour outside North America through 2017.”
The red flags in yesterday's story was the fact that promoter Peter Aiken had said he knew nothing about the supposed negotiations, even though he had worked closely with Brooks in 2014 before the Croke Park stint was scuppered by the local residents' association's protests.
As for Cahill's claim that Adele will also play the Cork stadium? There's no news on that, although it looks like fans needn't hold their breath.... We have reached out to Adele's PR rep for comment, and will let you know if there's any update.
