Waterford band Floyd Soul and the Wolf reigned supreme at the National Student Music Awards at The Village last night.

They beat off competition from the likes of Galway's Disconnect 4, Dublin's Dirty 9s and Cork's Ladydoll to claim the prize, which includes cash, recording time, CD duplication and a photography session.

The '70s rock throwback outfit follow in the footsteps of Lotus Lullaby and Delorentos, previous winners of the prize.
