As the Spice Girls phenomenon grinds to a weary halt, it's hard to get too worked up about the solo album from the nicest and most boring of the five. To make matters worse, Emma Bunton's girly, innocent voice isn't particularly well suited to these formulaic pop-soul compositions, most of which sound alarmingly like Texas B-sides. While it's as professionally produced, as you'd expect, everything else about A Girl Like Me is relentlessly predictable and average; life is surely too short for dross such as this.
