He may have retired from playing live following his 'Farewell Yellow Brick Road' tour, but Elton John is not ready to hang up his mic just yet.
Having inducted his co-writer Bernie Taupin into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame over the weekend, Elton John used the opportunity to tell the audience that the pair have actually just finished a new album, 56 years after they first started working together.
"We’ve just finished an album in Los Angeles, which is going to surprise the shit out of you," he said. "And it’s absolutely wonderful, and it’s full of youth, and it’s full of vitality. It’s a wonderful place to be after we’ve been together for 56 years."
The 'full of youth' description will come as no surprise to anyone who's followed John's career in recent years; he has been a champion of young artists on his Rocket Hour Apple Music show, and invited several up-and-coming artists on stage at his Glastonbury headline show earlier this year.
Of course, he's also had a few hits in recent years with reworkings of his old material, including 'Cold Heart' with Dua Lipa and 'Hold Me Closer' with Britney Spears.
Oh, and if you're not a fan of his music, he also has a new limited edition jar of Marmite to benefit his AIDS Foundation. Because y'know, why not.
