The day has finally come. ’Power Up’ the first single from our forthcoming ‘Visor EP’, is now available to stream through various websites and blogs. We are really excited for people to hear it especially on a hot, sultry day like this, as it has quite a contrasting theme to our previous release of ‘Croupiers carol of the bells ’in December. Clare Beck gave it its first bit of air time on phantom yesterday during the heat wave and today entertainment.ie have the exclusive preview of the video.
‘Power Up’ was the last of four songs that we had planned on writing for tour. It was also by far the most difficult. Harry (keys) and I (guitar) sat down one day to have a jam and after coming up short for almost two hours, Harry came across this sound; the ‘Power Up’ signature sound. It sounded like Super Mario growing when he finds a mushroom. For us, this was far better than anything else we had saved on ‘voice memos’ on my phone from previous writing sessions.(Sigh..yep that’s how we do).It wasn’t all fun and games though, it came so close to being dropped on several occasions over the course of a couple of weeks until one day it finally clicked.
I think we all had a different idea of what the weather was going to be like on tour because we wrote the EP with tour in mind. We thought we were getting a bit of a holiday in at the same time, packing swimming shorts and what not. It wasn’t to be. Our new summery songs were to be played in the worst weather conditions I have ever seen and in some cases not to be played at all as a result of being stranded in the snow. However it didn’t stop the punters from forming conga lines whilst chanting along with the chorus of ‘Power Up’.
We hope you enjoy our new single and if you want to see it live don’t forget we are playing a very special FREE eLive show with the illustrious CHARMERS in The Workmans Club on June 13th.All you have to do is book yourself a free ticket right here on entertainment.ie.
