That’s it for another year, then. Electric Picnic 2011 is in the books and the festival more than lived up to its reputation as being the granddaddy of the Irish summer festival circuit. The Irish weather forecasting services living up to their reputations too (for getting their predictions wrong) as while there were a few showers, there was nothing approaching the “severe flood warning” that some were shouting from the rooftops. As well as the fortuitous weather, Electric Picnic delivered on just about every facet of what makes a successful festival. The festival site was well designed, with easy access to toilets, bars and food stands. Consideration, too, was give to those among us who perhaps aren’t as into their music as others, meaning that there was always something interesting to be watching or, oftentimes, participating in. Some other large festivals fall down by having little more than stages, bars and toilets but not Electric Picnic. It’s a very easy place to spend three days of your life.
