Over the last few months, 2FM have been running a competition for unsigned bands called 'Play the Picnic with Oxfam', with the winning act chosen for a slot at this year's sold-out Electric Picnic.

After a public vote, the winner of this year's contest has been revealed as Dublin band Heroes in Hiding, who submitted their song 'Today, I Mean It'.

It's the lead single from the folk-rock quartet's second EP 'Decorated Absence', and their victory means that they'll now play the Cosby Tent stage at the Stradbally festival.

"To be on the same bill as Florence and the Machine and Blur is incredible," said drummer Cian Donohoe. "There are bands on the line up we have listened to since we were kids, some of whom have shaped us into the musicians we are now."

The nine acts that they beat are Ae Mak, Aine Cahill, El Grey, Just Mikey, Monster Monster, Neev Kennedy, Seo Linn, White Boys and Wolves of Youth. They will also play the Picnic, although on the smaller Oxjam tent.

All proceeds from the public text vote went to Oxfam Ireland.
