Destiny's Child are the biggest girl band in the world and in many ways they deserve to be. For its first two-thirds their new album is undeniably brilliant: smart, sassy feel good R'n'B with a real lyrical edge. It's a shame, then, that towards the end it gets bogged down in a succession of boring, saccharine ballads, not to mention a cloying spoken word track on which Beyonce, Kelly and Michelle all congratulate each other - and God - on finishing the album. It would be a lot easier to like Destiny's Child if it weren't for this kind of self-adoration. But give them their due: there's more than enough strong material here to ensure that they remain well ahead of the competition.
