After a year of non-stop industry buzz, David Kitt's first major label release has finally arrived. And while it contains a couple of longeurs, The Big Romance has more than enough sublime moments to justify the hype surrounding its release. The image of the sensitive singer-songwriter is too crude to apply to Kitt; the young Dubliner may take that as his base but he goes on to adds all sorts of different sounds to this basic template, using subtle electronic beats to enhance his songs' simple, sweet messages. This is far from the flashiest album you'll hear this year but it may well be the one that most rewards repeated listening.
