You might be wondering what the hell an 'InstaMiniSeries' is, so allow us to explain.

Instagram, the photo-sharing app beloved of hipsters everywhere, have revealed that they will host a four-minute movie based on David Bowie's final and most recent album, 'Blackstar'.

It's called 'Unbound: A Blackstar Mini Series' and will star Tavi Gevinson (Enough Said, Parenthood) and Patricia Clarkson (The Maze Runner, Shutter Island).

The producers told Variety that the series will take the viewer “on a journey of evocative images inspired by the moods suggested in the album’s music, lyrics and artwork."

It's comprised of 16 mini episodes that last just 15 seconds each, amounting to a full four-minute movie when completed.

Variety reports that the series was completed in December, before Bowie's death, and that he granted access to the music as far back as last autumn.

The first of the 16 episodes will premiere on Thursday night at 8pm EST (1am GMT) on the InstaMiniSeries page, with further episodes to follow on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
