Sadly, the man behind 'Sunchyme', Dario G, has passed away at the age of 53.

The English dance musician - who was originally part of a trio as Dario G, before continuing the name as a solo artist - was diagnosed with stage 4 rectal cancer in 2023 and passed away yesterday.

His family broke the sad news of his death by paying tribute on Instagram, saying "He was positive until the end but this was one battle he could not fight anymore. He leaves behind a wonderful musical legacy and many happy memories for many people."

'Derry Girls' creator Lisa McGee also hailed his work, calling 'Sunchyme' an "incredibly special one for me personally."

Dario G's other major hit, 'Carnaval de Paris', was released the year after 'Sunchyme' conquered the global dance charts and soundtracked the 1998 World Cup. It remains a popular football anthem to this day.

Last year, he released charity single 'Savour the Miracle of Life’ to raise funds for the Macmillan Cancer Support services.

RIP.
