A slightly cryptic poster has emerged in the last few days announcing the release of a collaborative album between famed DJ and producer Danger Mouse and avant garde electro rockers Sparklehorse.
This poster reveals that the album, entitled "Dark Night of The Soul" will feature guest performances from Black Francis, The Strokes' Julian Casablancas, Vic Chestnutt, The Flaming Lips, Jason Lytle formerly of Grandaddy, The Shins' James Mercer, Nina Persson of The Cardigan's fame, Iggy Pop, Super Furry Animals' Gruff Rhys and Suzanne Vega. The inclusion of David Lynch on the poster has incited much confusion and speculation that there may even be visuals to accompany the project.
Sparklehorse frontman Mark Linkous told Pitchfork.com last year about the project, joking that they'd argued whether to call it Dangerhorse or Sparklemouse. He said that he was planning to sing a couple of songs on the album, but that he would be mostly working with Dangermouse on a succession of backing tracks for guest singers, and so seems to be the case.
No other details have been announced, but according to this rogue poster, "Dark Night of The Soul" will be released in summer 2009.
