Rock guitarist Joe Satriani is suing Coldplay for alleged plagiarism of his song 'If I Could Fly' on their hit 'Viva La Vida'.
'If I Could Fly' is taken from Satriani's 2004 album 'Is There Love In Space?', while 'Viva La Vida' was the last single taken from the UK band's album of the same name.
The musician has previously played with heavy rock bands like Deep Purple, as well as maintaining a successful solo career - but claims that Chris Martin and co. used 'substantial original portions' of his song. He filed a lawsuit at Los Angeles Federal Court last week which demanded 'any or all profits' that Coldplay have made from the song.
