Our late 90s to early 00s hearts are so full right now after seeing the music video for Charli XCX’s new single ‘1999’, featuring Troye Sivan.
The video features several throwbacks to iconic songs, music videos, celebrities and movies of the 90s.
You’ll spot movies like ‘American Beauty’, ‘The Blair Witch Project’, ‘Titanic’, and ‘The Matrix’ being referenced, as well as callbacks to singers and pop bands like The Real Slim Shady, Spice Girls, TLC, NSYNC (and Justin Timberlake with his curly blonde hair and all) and Marilyn Manson.
There are moments recalling 90s fashion and 90s tech too with the likes of Dancing Baby, The Sims, and AOL Instant Messenger all being featured in the vid.
Between the success of Anne-Marie’s summer single ‘2002’ and now this, it would seem that nostalgic throwbacks in music couldn’t be hotter right now.
