Happy New Year! As we awake today at the dawn of another year, we thought it a good idea to give you a little sneak peak as to a few things we expect to happen in the music world over the course of the next few months. We're sure one or two of you are nursing your first sore head of 2013 so please be advised; play the following clips at a reasonable volume!

The Irish

The Strypes will release their first record towards the end of the year and will play countless festival dates in the summer ahead of its release. Many more famous names will join the band's high profile list of fans, which already includes Jeff Beck, Paul Weller and, er, Brian Kerr.

Villagers' second album {Awayland} will get even better reviews than its first. Mercury Prize nomination secured.

Little Green Cars, Bleeding Heart Pigeons and Kodaline will make big impressions abroad.

Lisa O'Neill will hit the big time.

MCD will announce at least one brand new summer festival, with Oxegen being phased out.

The Rest

Music streaming will get an even stronger foothold in the music industry. High street shops will be put under even further pressure as sales dwindle.

By July, PSY will have performed 'Gangnam Style' in front of one third of the world's population.

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's unborn child will have several million Twitter followers by this time next year.

Chris Brown will, several times over, give people more reasons to dislike him.

Frank Ocean will deservedly bag himself several Grammy Awards in February. The Black Keys and Gotye will also see some success.
