Hot on the heels of newly named 3 Arena, Dublin's second largest indoor arena has also fallen under new ownership.
It has been announced that The Bord Gais Energy Theatre has been bought by John and Bernie Gallagher for a sum in the region of €28m. The Gallaghers, who own and operate the Doyle Collection of luxury hotels, are believed to have outbid the likes of Live Nation and MCD for control of the venue located in Dublin's Docklands.
The theatre, which as a capacity of just over 2,200, was originally floated with a price tag of around €80 but the eventual sale sum was for less than half of that.
The venue has quickly become one of Dublin's best known venues, having hosted a number of high profile concerts and theatre performances since it opened in 2010.
Upcoming performances in the theatre include Elvis Costello, Jools Holland and Damien Rice and none of these shows will be affected by the change in ownership.
