This year's annual Live at the Marquee in Cork schedule is beginning to take shape, following this morning's news that Bob Geldof and his Boomtown Rats and will play Cork on the 5th of July next, some 26 years after what was supposed to be their final gig.
Geldof formed the Boomtown Rats in Dun Laoghaire in 1975 and the latched on to the burgeoning punk scene, a move that would make them famous. Of course, Geldof is best know the world over for his efforts in realising his dream of Live Aid and has become philanthropist and humanitarian - but he hasn't left his punk roots behind and evidence of this will be seen this summer under the Marquee at Cork's docklands.
Tickets for the gig are on sale from Friday 22nd February and are priced between €35 and €45.
