It looks like 2021 is going to be a year of firsts for Bono.

It was recently revealed that the U2 frontman would publish his first memoir next year, having spent much of 2020 putting the finishing touches to it.

Now, it's been revealed that he will also make his animated feature film debut with a voice role in 'Sing 2'.

Bono is amongst several big names, including Pharrell Williams and Halsey, who will appear in the sequel to the 2016 hit movie.

He will play Clay Calloway, a lion who is a reclusive rock star who has removed himself from public life after his wife dies.

Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meladandri said: "The film is a musical celebration of the unrelenting pursuit of one’s dreams, no matter how large the challenges that stand in your way. At its core, this movie speaks to the power of optimism."

Characters from the first film voiced by Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Taron Egerton and Nick Kroll will also return.

It's set for release in December 2021.
