American rockers Bon Jovi will headline Slane next summer. The formal announcement will be made later today at Lord Henry Mountcharles estate at Slane Castle in Meath, but word has leaked out over the past few hours naming Bon Jovi as next summer's headliners as part of their 'Because We Can' tour. The gig will take place on 15th June with tickets, priced at €79.50, going on sale at 8am on Thursday 8th November.
Speculation has been rampant in recent days, with everyone from the Rolling Stones to Green Day linked to the prestigious headline slot, but it's New Jersey's finest (well, Bruce may have something to say about that) whose name will appear top of the bill.
Speaking of the announcement, Lord Henry Mountcharles today said: "I have seen Bon Jovi live and was deeply impressed. They are one of the most successful touring acts in rock and roll history. Over the years I have been bombarded with requests for them to play Slane. Last week one from America read 'Bon Jovi at Slane?! Could my dreams have come true?' Now I am thrilled to say those dreams are a reality."

The Slane concert took a year off in 2012, with the most recent concert in 2011 headlined by Kings of Leon, with support from Elbow.
