In recent days, rumours have been flying around about Apple's plans for the future of the iTunes store.
Some reports have suggested that the digital store is being phased out as early as 2019, due to the rise in popularity of streaming and the overall decrease in downloading. Nielsen Soundscan report that track downloads in the USA are down by 24.1% this year, and album downloads are down by 19.9% - with a further drop-off expected in 2018.
However, despite its streaming service Apple Music being successful since launching in 2015, a spokesperson for the company has denied that the iTunes store will be phased out, telling NME that the rumours were "not true."
As NME also report, Apple are set to buy music app Shazam - which uses music recognition algorithms to identify songs - in the coming days.
