Musical biopics are clearly big business in Hollywood right now, as the life story of Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis is set to hit the big screen.

It comes days after news of a rumoured Bruce Springsteen biopic - but the Kiedis film is officially in development after Universal optioned the rights to his 2004 memoir 'Scar Tissue'.

The autobiography detailed the 61-year-old Kiedis's battle with drug addiction, his recovery and his enormously successful career with the Californian band formed in LA in 1982.

Although the book was initially set to be turned into a series by HBO in 2008, Deadline reports that it is in 'early development' with Universal, with the band's manager Guy Oseary and Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer attached as producers.

Whether it actually happens or not is another matter - but he's certainly led an interesting life.

Red Hot Chili Peppers' last album was 2022's "Return of the Dream Canteen'.
