Just when we were starting to get excited about the prospect of seeing Amy Winehouse tour the world in holographic form, the rugs gets pulled from under our feet by her father Mitch who maintains that any and all rumours of this are "utter rubbish", as per NME.
The Sun threw itself into a hissy fit late last week when it claimed it had inside knowledge that plans were afoot to bring Winehouse back to life via the use of some high-tech 3D computer imagery similar to that which was used to resurrect Tupac at Coachella a couple of years ago.
The Sun reported that a businessman by the name of Alki David would fund the project, which had the full backing of Winehouse's father Mitch, quoting a 'source' as saying: "The plan is that Amy will finally tour the world after failing to do so when she was alive. With an orchestra and her hologram, she can take to the stage and fans can see her perform her legendary hits. The idea is in its early stages but it's hoped that Amy's dad Mitch will join her and do the introductions."
While this does sound completely crazy, is it crazy enough to work? Well, we needn't worry about that, as Mitch Winehouse very much put The Sun in their place via social media, writing on his Twitter page that the story was "utter rubbish".
This is probably good news too, as we suspect Amy's hologram would still end up cancelling tours and showing up late on stage. Some things never change.
No truth in the Hologram story. Utter rubbish as usual. Mitch
