alt-J's second album 'This Is All Yours' is fast looking like it'll be a contender for album of the year.

Two cuts from the record have been released so far, 'Hunger of the Pine' and 'Left Hand Free', both of which severed as appetite-whetting samples from the band's second record, due out in September.

The three songs released so far indicate that the album will draw from a wide range of influences. 'Hunger of the Pine', with its slow build and Miley Cyrus sample, is probably the most obtuse of the three but arguably the best. 'Left Hand Free' is a more of a straight-up rocker, while 'Every Other Freckle', on first impression anyway, is a bit more like some of the songs from the first album 'An Awesome Wave', in that it draws from numerous different influences and sways wildly in its approach from English folk to new wave.

We wait with baited breath for alt-J's show in The O2 in Dublin on September 27th.
