It’s not easy to make ends meet in music these days as any artist will gladly confirm, “The first responsibility of any artist is to find a way of doing your art that doesn’t make you either mad or bankrupt. That isn’t a simple thing to do.”

Nick Kelly, quoted above, is a musician, songwriter, filmmaker and a creative director in the world of advertising. Neither mad nor bankrupt, his most recent outing is a musical collective called Alien Envoy and they’ve been garnering rave reviews since the release of “Loads” – their first album. Some of you may remember Nick from his days as frontman with The Fat Lady Sings. If you haven't heard them yet, here's a little taster.

Apart from checking out the album we’d like to divert your serious attention to their first show on November 6th in Smock Alley in Dublin. Nick will play songs from the album including “Nothing Left To Do But To Dance” (“a future festival anthem” – Hot Press), “Break America” (“absolutely brilliant – Tom Dunne, Newstalk), “Small Loads” (“lovely” – Paul McLoone, Today FM) and the current single “Sunny”, which has been attracting praise and plays both for its sublime soulful groove and its emotive video.
As an added bonus, Nick has promised that he’ll also play an opening set of songs drawn from The Fat Lady Sings’ back catalogue. Tickets are available from here.

And of course we're not going to leave you wanting more, so here's their second single, "Sunny".

Alien Envoy’s new album “Loads” is released on October 10 2014 on Self Possessed records. It can be ordered now from here.
