R 'n' B star Akon has been sentenced in the case brought against him by the fan he threw from the stage last year.

The Senegalese-born rapper - who has just released a new album - pleaded guilty to the charge, was ordered to pay a $250 fine, is on probation for 12 months and was sentenced to 65 hours anti-violence community service at Fishkill Town Justice Court yesterday.

The incident happened in Fishkill in upstate New York in June 2007, when a fan angered him by throwing an object at him mid-performance. He ordered the 15-year-old boy onto the stage, hoisted him onto his shoulders and flung him back into the crowd.
