You get the feeling that even if Adele hadn't released '25' in the run-up to Christmas, it still would have sold millions and millions.

However, whether the festive season gave her an edge or not, her third album has been named not only the biggest-selling album of 2015, but the biggest-selling entertainment product - outselling the likes of FIFA 16, Call of Duty: Black Ops III and even blockbusters Jurassic World and The Hobbit on DVD.

The Entertainment Retail Charts revealed that the singer had sold 2.6 million copies of '25', despite it only being released in November.

It was followed by FIFA 16 (2.5 million), Call of Duty (1.9), Paddington on DVD (1.18) and Fallout 4 (1.12).

Considering gaming is traditionally the dominant force, particularly at Christmas time, that's no mean feat.

The second-biggest selling album of the year was Sam Smith's 'In the Lonely Hour', which sold 925,147 copies in 2015.
