We've seen holograms of musicians in the past - most famously rapper Tupac Shakur - but technology has come so far that it's now possible to create a whole show using a hologram and send it out on tour.
Whitney Houston's estate and Hologram USA, the company who makes such weird dreams a reality, confirmed the news over the weekend with Houston's sister-in-law (and president of her estate) Pat Houston saying that it's: "a great opportunity for her fans to see a reinvention of one the most celebrated female artists in history and to continue a legacy of performances that will not be forgotten in years to come.”
The tour is rumoured to start in the US next year before travelling around the world. Those who cannot make the 'live' shows will be able to stream it online.
"We’ve got technology that’s causing a seismic shift in the entertainment industry, and a wonderful partnership with Pat Houston and the estate - I’m confident we’ll create the ultimate celebration of Whitney’s amazing artistry," said Alki David of Hologram USA.
Houston died in 2012, aged 48.
