Are you bored with your current playlists? Looking for something new to check out this month? We’re here to help.
Below, you’ll find five of the biggest albums set for release in July.
PJ HARVEY - ‘I Inside the Old Year Dying’ | July 7th
One of the most singular artists of all time, the living legend that is Polly Jean Harvey, returns with her 10th album - and her first album of original material since 2016 - this month. Inspired by her epic poem Orlam, it has been described as an ‘enigmatic’ and ‘disturbing’ work, which also features contributions from actors Ben Whishaw and Colin Morgan.

MAHALIA - ‘IRL’ | July 14th
The British singer, songwriter and actress releases her second studio album. Inspired by a traumatic break-up and Mahalia’s subsequent therapy visits, you can expect songs of self-examination and heartache amidst her soulful alt-r&b musings. Collaborators include Stormzy, JoJo and Kojey Radical.
*
BLUR - ‘The Ballad of Darren’ | July 21st
They’re baaaack! Following a storming run of gigs (including a stunner at Dublin’s Malahide Castle the other week), Damon Albarn and his bandmates return with the album that no one knew they were making. Their 9th album was produced by James Ford and is their first batch of new songs since 2015’s ‘The Magic Whip’.
*
GRETA VAN FLEET - ‘Starcatcher’ | July 28th
They’ve definitely got a Marmite quality about them, but there’s no denying that Greta Van Fleet are entertaining. The Michigan band build upon their first two albums for another collection of classic rock-inspired songs - one of them is even about their love of jumpsuits.

POST MALONE - ‘Austin’ | July 28th
Still only 28, Post Malone has firmly established himself as a rapper of choice for a certain breed of millennials. His eclectic style will apparently be pushed to the limit on his fifth album, which is named for himself (his real name is Austin), saw him play guitar on every track and is reportedly the “most challenging and rewarding music” he’s committed to tape yet.
