Below, you’ll find five of the biggest albums set for release in January.
SPRINTS - ‘Letter to Self’ [January 5th]
One of the most exciting Irish guitar bands in recent years release their long-awaited debut album. The Dublin-led band have been making waves internationally with their post-punk tinged alternative rock in recent years, and 2024 is set to be a big year for them.

GREEN DAY - ‘Saviors’ [January 19th]
It may be quite a while since Green Day’s last bona fide brilliant album, but the punk-pop pioneers are having another throw of the dice with their grandiosely-titled 14th studio album. Recorded in London and Los Angeles, the album’s artwork has an Irish connection; it is an altered version of a photo taken on the Falls Road, Belfast during the Troubles.

CONCHÚR WHITE - ‘Swirling Violet’ [January 19th]
This Armagh native, formerly a member of Northern Irish band Silences, was signed to prestigious indie label Bella Union for this, his debut album. With influences ranging from Arctic Monkeys to Father John Misty, you can expect surrealist love stories set against an introspective, folky soundtrack with chiming arrangements.

THE SMILE - ‘Wall of Eyes’ [January 26th]
If you’ve been waiting impatiently for a new Radiohead album, perhaps this will plug the gap. The side project of Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood (along with non-Radiohead drummer Tom Skinner) release their second album, which is said to be another dizzying exploration of experimental art-rock.

FUTURE ISLANDS - ‘People Who Aren’t There Anymore’ [January 26th]
Always a band with a big Irish fanbase, the Baltimore synthpoppers led by Samuel T. Herring return with album number seven, the follow-up to 2020’s 'As Long as You Are'. The new songs played at their Dublin gig last summer sounded promising - so fingers crossed the four-piece can pull it out of the bag again.
