It's President Donald Trump's final day in office (*the world breathes a sigh of relief*). He's using the day to pardon a number of people - over a hundred, in fact.

Among those to receive a pardon from Trump are rappers Lil Wayne and Kodak Black.

Lil Wayne (née Dwayne Michael Carter Jr) had expressed support for Trump during his reelection campaign last October. Thus his pardon comes of little surprise.

Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to illegally possessing a loaded weapon on a private jet while travelling to Miami in December 2020.

Cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana, heroin, pain killers and prescription-strength cough syrup, along with nearly $26,000 in cash were also found on the plane. But he was not charged with any drug offenses.

As Lil Wayne is a convicted felon, stemming from a gun charge in 2007, the musician was looking at 10 years in prison when sentenced on January 28th.

Kodak Black is in federal prison after pleading guilty to a firearms possession charge. He was detained at the Canadian-American border in March 2020. Trump granted him commutation.

Altogether, the President granted 73 pardons and commuted the sentences for 70 others.

Names that did not make the pardon and clemency list released by the White House include Joe Exotic, the subject of Netflix series 'Tiger King'; Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani; Wikileaks' Julian Assange; and NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden.
