After the whirlwind announcement that definitely no-one saw coming yesterday, Metallica will headline Slane 2019 on Saturday June 9th - which now turns out to be the same night as The Cure plan on rocking out too.
Announced late last night via Twitter, The Cure advised fans to "save the date" for an upcoming Dublin gig, with more details to follow soon. The only detail we know for sure is that it will definitely be taking place on the same night Metallica will be rocking Slane.

No doubt Crawley's finest needed to quickly announce their upcoming gig to avoid fans disappointment, as both bands might have a similar fanbase. This will be The Cure's tenth time to ever play Ireland, while Metallica haven't played Ireland in 10 years. The battle of the tens is on.
It leaves fans having to make a tough decision within the next few days - daddy or chips? Oasis or Blur? Metallica or The Cure? Fans are spontaneously combusting all over the country as they try to decide which gig to attend.
So The Cure play their first show in Dublin in 27 years, at the exact time Metallica play their first show in Ireland in 10 years.
Smart move guys.
