If you're yearning for just one more festival to attend before packing it in for 2018, fear not as Westival might just be the one for you.
Westival is a brand new music and arts festival that will be taking place in Westport, County Mayo in two weeks time from Wednesday 24th to Monday 29th October. The festival has something for everyone, with a mix of music, theatre, visual and street arts, literature, workshops and family events taking place.
There will be music performances from Lisa Hannigan, Gilbert O’Sullivan, Le Galaxie, Daithi & Elaine Mai, Tom Hickox, and Graham Sweeney, as well as the album launch of ‘Back to the Island’ from Matt Molloy of The Chieftain’s. There will also be visual arts performances from Ipseity, featuring works from Alice Maher, Breda Burns, Emma Bourke, Janet Mullarney, Katherine Boucher Beug, and Stevey Scullion.
Pete Williams from Dexy’s Midnight Runners will be hosting a Ukulele workshop; a chance to dress up for Halloween in a secret location; as well as the captivating 3D light sculpture 'HY BRASIL' occurring at dawn and dusk on Westport Quay, which is believed to be "breath-taking and completely immersive for the audience".
