Forbes' list of 'The World's Highest-Paid Women In Music 2018' has seen a shake up this year with Katy Perry being crowned the winner. It's important to note however, that the list is calculated pre-tax, and over the space of a year from June 2017 - June 2018. So, depending on the timing of an artist releasing an album, or going on tour, it could affect their standing on the list.
Perry, who released her album 'Witness' in June of last year, has made 83 million dollars in the one-year timeframe. Apparently the 'I Kissed a Girl' singer played 80 shows of her 'Witness: The Tour', earning one million dollars per night. Don't forget that she was also a judge on 'American Idol' last year too, which earned her over 20 million dollars alone.
Second on the list, is Perry's sometimes rival Taylor Swift. Swift pulled in 80 million dollars, and probably would have topped the list this year - except her 'Reputation Stadium Tour' fell just outside of Forbes' recording dates. She'll most likely be back again hovering around the top spot next year.
Rounding out the top three is 2017's winner, Beyonce. Last year's figure had the 'Lemonade' singer earning 105 million dollars pre-tax; while this years is nearly half of that, at 60 million.
It'll be interesting to see how well Lady Gaga does on Forbes' 2019 list, as 'A Star is Born' has been such a roaring success both here and internationally for the singer. We envision lots of jostling for the top spot this time next year.
