A lawsuit has been made against Dua Lipa for her track 'Levitating' which appears on her second album, 2020's 'Future Nostalgia'.
The reggae band from Florida have filed the suit against the 26-year-old pop star, claiming that the track is a rip-off of their 2017 song 'Live Your Life'.

The similarity is certainly there, it would seem.
According to TMZ, the reggae band filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Federal court which accuses Dua Lipa and her label Warner of copyright infringement. The band are requesting profits made from 'Levitating', plus damages. The track was crowned as Billboard's No. 1 Hot 100 song of 2021.
The lawsuit is not believed to contain detail about how or why Dua Lipa allegedly copied them, the band writes that the two tracks are so similar that it is "highly unlikely that 'Levitating' was created independently".
The pop star is currently on her 'Future Nostalgia' world tour, earlier this week performing in Madison Square Garden in New York City. In February, she won a Brit Award for Best Pop/R&B Act, accepting the award while on tour in Miami.
Dua Lipa is currently working on her next album, telling The Wall Street Journal: "It has a vision. It has a name, I think – for now. It’s just been fun experimenting. It’s still in baby form, so we’ll see as it progresses. In all honesty, it’s probably not what my fans want to hear, but I’m in no rush."
Representatives for Dua Lipa, Warner Music, and Artikal Sound System have not responded to any requests for commenting on the 'Levitating' matter.
