If you asked someone to name a rock band from the 1980s, Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe would probably spring to mind, and now the two groups are coming together for a major world tour in 2023 - with a date in Marlay Park penciled in.
With over 200 million albums sold worldwide between them, the pairing of these two titans of rock is sure to get any fan excited, and the bands will start the UK and Irish leg of the tour with a hometown gig for Def Leppard in Sheffield.
The crossover gig will also take in a gig at London's Wembley stadium, as well as a headlining slot at the Lytham festival.
The two groups teamed up for a series of gigs across North America this summer, and now the team-up is heading over to this side of the Atlantic.
"After finally getting back on the road and having a monumental summer tour in the US and Canada this year, we’re beyond thrilled to be bringing this massive stadium tour to major cities all over the world, and kicking off Europe in Sheffield where it all started for us 45 years ago," Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott said in a statement.
Mötley Crüe added: "We had an incredible time playing ‘The Stadium Tour’ in North America this summer and we truly can’t wait to take the show around the globe in 2023."
Marlay Park has seen it's fair share of rock royality play there over the years, with everyone from Metallica, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, R.E.M., Guns N' Roses and Oasis playing sold-out gigs there over the years.
The epic show will rock into Dublin on July 4th next year, and with that day usually associated with fireworks in the United States, we can be sure the two bands will be providing fireworks of their own on the day.
Tickets will go on sale on Friday, October 28th from Ticketmaster.
