The April 2019 music festival rumour mill has already started.
2018 has certainly been the year of Childish Gambino. The music video for Gambino's hit song 'This is America' has stacked up an impressive 404 million views on YouTube alone, since being released back in May. He's also had great success on screen too, starring as the scene-stealing Lando in 'Solo: A Star Wars Story'. And now the man is rumoured to be headlining the California music festival in 2019.
Along with Gambino, it's looking likely that Justin Timberlake and Kanye West might also be part of the rumoured bill. Gambino and West both have new albums to be released later this year, with news that West's album 'Yandhi' will drop on November 23rd, and Gambino's yet untitled offering to hit some time before the end of 2018.
Timberlake released a new album earlier this year, 'Man of the Woods', which has received relatively average reviews - but it's JT, so you can bet he'll be a big crowd-pleaser with his back-catalogue alone (unfortunately, 'Can't Stop The Feeling' is probably likely to be shoe-horned in somewhere too).
We have no word yet on who else might be rumoured for the 2019 gig, but hopefully we will get an official announcement from the festival soon. Going by Coachella 2018's standards of Beyonce, The Weekend, Eminem, and HAIM though, you can bet there will be some major players lined up.
Here's some Childish Gambino, with his late summer and cameo-filled hit 'Feels Like Summer':
