With a host of great artists taking to the stage next week, we take a look back at some of the best and most iconic performances that we've seen unfold on the night of the BRIT Awards.

Gorillaz

How do you perform on stage without actually being present? Just ask the Gorillaz. Their performance of "Dirty Harry' is a classic example of how much love there is for the band.

Spice Girls

The Spice Girls performance of 'Who Do You Think You Are' has gone down in history of the most iconic performances to ever take to the BRIT Awards stage. It was the birth of Geri Halliwell's iconic Union Jack dress, after all. Could we see them at this year's awards in anticipation of their comeback tour? We'll have to wait and see.

Blur

Blur fulfilled all of our 90's dreams by belting out 'Song 2' and 'Parklife' back to back in 2012. The band were honoured with a Brit Award for their Outstanding Contribution to Music the same year.

Stormzy

Double BRIT Awards winner Stormzy tore up the stage last year and gave the performance of the night. He won Best British Album and Best Male Solo Artist for his album 'Gang Signs & Prayer.'

Lorde's David Bowie tribute

2016 was the year that we lost one of the most influential artists the world has ever seen - David Bowie. Kiwi singer Lorde was joined on stage by Bowie's backing band from his final tour in 2003, and gave an emotional performance of 'Life On Mars.' Lorde previously referred to Bowie as her "hero".

Scissor Sisters

The Scissor Sisters swapped glitz and glam for weird and wonderful - and it worked. Just look at that big-ass pink bird, and those singing watermelons. We're surprised Kermit the Frog didn't make an appearance.

Amy Winehouse, Adele, Daniel Merriweather, and Mark Ronson

Mark Ronson was joined on stage in 2008 by a baby-faced Adele, before she made way for Daniel Merriweather, and the main event of the night - Amy Winehouse. 'Valerie' had been released the year before, a year after The Zutons released the original version.

Madonna

Just in case you thought we'd forgotten about this moment - you'd be wrong. Making a comeback to the BRITs proved to be the least of Madonna's worries in 2015 - she should have practiced taking off her cape a few more times. But being the pro that she is, Madge got back up, acted like nothing had happened, and continued with her performance. What a moment.

The BRIT Awards will be taking place on Wednesday, February 20th at the O2 Arena in London. Performances on the night will be from Little Mix, The 1975, and George Ezra.
